Silent Voices Community Guidelines

The system protects itself. We protect the people in it.
Through truth, fiction, and everything in between.

Silent Voices exists to amplify the voices of those harmed by healthcare system failures. Through fiction, investigative reporting, and verified resources, we build a community of accountability. These guidelines keep this space safe, respectful, and focused on the mission.

01 — Respectful Engagement
No harassment. No hate. No attacks.

Zero tolerance for harassment, bullying, hate speech, or personal attacks. Disagreements are welcome. Cruelty is not. Members who violate this will be removed without warning.

02 — Sharing Personal Stories
Protect identities. Use first names only.

Protect the identities of residents, patients, and families. Do not post full names, room numbers, or facility addresses in comments. To share a detailed account, use the Submit Your Story form for team review before publishing.

03 — Unverified Claims
Report. Do not accuse publicly.

Do not post accusations against specific facilities or staff without supporting documentation. If you have evidence of abuse or neglect, report it to Adult Protective Services (1-800-677-1116) or your state’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman. You may also submit through the site’s tip form for review.

04 — No Legal or Medical Advice
This site is informational, not advisory.

Silent Voices does not provide legal or medical advice. Content on this site is for informational and educational purposes only. Always consult a licensed attorney or healthcare professional for guidance specific to your situation.

05 — Privacy and Confidentiality
Your tips stay protected.

Tips and stories submitted through the site are treated with confidentiality. We will never publish your personal information without your written consent. We encourage anonymous submissions if you fear retaliation.

06 — Zero Tolerance for Threats
Advocacy means proper channels.

No promotion of violence, retaliation, or harassment against facility staff, administrators, or any individual. Advocacy means accountability through proper channels, not intimidation.

07 — Commenting on Blog Posts
Stay on topic. No spam or self-promotion.

Stay on topic. No spam, self-promotion, or links to unrelated content. Comments that violate these guidelines will be removed without notice.

08 — Fiction vs. Fact
All fictional content is clearly labeled.

Silent Voices publishes both fiction and nonfiction. All fictional content is clearly labeled. Characters, facilities, and events in fiction are the author’s imagination. Do not treat fictional stories as factual reports or use them to make real-world accusations.

09 — Reporting Violations
Use the report button or email the team.

If you see a comment or post that violates these guidelines, use the report button or email the team directly at silentvoices@nathaliefrias.net. We review all reports within 48 hours.

Silent Voices exists because every person in a care facility deserves dignity, safety, and someone willing to speak up. By joining this community, you agree to uphold these standards.
